Hunter Greene Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-125)
The National League playoffs are wide open. This includes the Reds, who are six games under .500 but only four games from a playoff spot. This doesn’t mean they will climb over the handful of teams above them, but if they get hot, it’s within reach.
They have a lot of young talent to be excited about. One of them is Hunter Greene. He’s made tremendous strides this year; better movement on his pitches and painting corners have helped him have his best season. One difference is that his strikeouts are down; he is only two innings shy of last year’s season total and has 26 fewer strikeouts.
He should be able to have one of his better games against the Braves, who have been underwhelming on offense. As usual, this lineup tends to strike out a lot, and their 24% strikeout rate is 23rd in the league.
Randy Arozarena Over 1.5 Runs + Hits + RBI (-125)
The Yankees’ regression continues into the second half. At best, they can split this series against the Rays. They have lost eight of their last nine series and their 10-21 record is only better than the White Sox (10-22).
Carlos Rodon gets the start and the struggles we saw last year are creeping up again. The Yankees lost his previous six outings, and he had a 9.67 ERA at that time. One of those losses was against Tampa Bay, where he allowed four earned runs in four innings.
Randy Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a run in that game. He has a great history against Rodon, going 3-for-7 with a double and a home run. Arozarena’s power has been displayed in series as he’s 6-for-14 with three home runs.
Mitch Keller Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+130)
As mentioned, the National League playoff race, minus the Rockies and Marlins, sees every other team in contention. The Pirates are just one game above .500 but are only a half-game out of the final Wild Card spot. With a successful series against St. Louis, they can move up to the second Wild Card spot.
They might have a tough time grabbing this first game with Mitch Keller on the mound. He’s had a couple of unsuccessful starts against the Cardinals this season and has allowed nine earned runs in 11 innings. The history overall isn’t great, as this lineup is batting .278 with a .482 slugging rate.
