The big story surrounding Cowboys’ defense this season is the return of cornerback Trevon Diggs. Let’s take a look at Dallas’ defensive backfield for 2024.

For as many questions as the Dallas Cowboys have on the offensive and defensive depth charts, there is one position room they seem to have on lock, and that is the defensive backs. Cornerback Trevon Diggs will be back this season after being forced to sit out the majority of last year with an injury, which is a huge relief for the Cowboys. Diggs was one of the best cornerbacks in the league before his injury. After starting training camp on the PUP list, Diggs was cleared to practice and has since been back on the field, integrating back into things slowly.

Without Diggs on the lineup last season, DaRon Bland stepped up big time, setting an NFL record for interceptions returned for a touchdown in one season with five.
The Cowboys picked Caelen Carson in the fifth round of the draft this year and so far, the rookie has been proving that he can be a major contributor in the defensive backfield. As far as his performance in both minicamp and training camp, Carson looks like he could be a serious CB4 behind Diggs, Bland, and Jourdan Lewis.
