There has been another twist in the Brandon Vázquez transfer saga. Just when it seemed as if the FC Cincinnati attacker had been lined up for a move to Monterrey in Liga MX, he now looks set for the Premier League. According to British newspaper The Telegraph, Brentford are intent on signing the 25-year-old in the January transfer window as a possible replacement for Ivan Toney, who has been strongly linked with a move away.

ToggleToney will complete an eight-month betting suspension in January but appears likely to have played his last match for The Bees. But whether the one-cap England striker stays or goes, Vázquez is on Brentford’s radar, as well as several back-up options. According to journalist Mike McGrath, talks have already taken place between the clubs, although Cincinnati haven’t publicly revealed their asking price. It is thought the London-based side will make an offer not dissimilar to the one submitted by Monterrey, who are now hoping to lure Fulham’s Carlos Vinicius.
